Dear readers, we are happy to present the monthly newsletter, which will tell you about our organization activities done in March and April.
The daily activities of "Gyumri Youth House" aim at developing and empowering youngsters and giving new knowledge to them. The centre team continues to implement mobile youth work, within the framework of which a workshop on "Children's Rights" was held in Gyumri N38 school.
Since mid-March, because of Coronavirus, youth workers and volunteers started conducting online youth work providing youngsters online workshops, clubs and other educational programs.

This month we had a thematic week of healthy lifestyle, which included workshops, numerous informational videos, articles and morning fitness exercises. Various interesting and useful links to online museums, books, and movies were provided for leisure time.

 

 

Language clubs also keep going

During the week, interesting facts, videos and information are regularly published on each topic. Within the framework of “Media Literacy week”, Karen Terteryan spoke live on media literacy and secure internet, answered to the youngsters' questions.

The Music week was about different musical genres and famous pieces. Live meeting with musician Narek Cosmos was full of musical performances. It was possible to follow composer Robert Amirkhanyan's "Unofficial" live concert. At the end of the “Music week”, the talented young people of the centre shared their musical performances. 


During the “Poetry week”, the centre youngsters had an opportunity to recite their favorite poems as well as share their favorite poem lines.

During the “Art week”, the young people got acquainted with different types of art and masterpieces, handicrafts and life hacks. The “Art Week” ended with the handicrafts made by the talented young people of the centre. The last week of April provided an opportunity to travel to a number of countries and learn more through interesting facts after it the youngsters tested their knowledge with quizzes.

 “Cities of YOUth: increasing the role of young people in the development of tourism infrastructure”
Gyumri “Youth Initiative Centre” NGO, connected with the difficult health situation in the world, continues its efforts to arrange its work from distance and to find new solutions in this new reality.
In the frames of the long-term partnership project “Cities of YOUth: increasing the role of young people in the development of tourism infrastructure” supported by the Erasmus+ programme, we held online meetings within our consortium (Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Croatia and Czech Republic), as well as with our Armenian youth worker participants for planning the upcoming activities.
Youth work Introduction

On April 25 in the frames of the "State Youth Policy" a series of online courses, entitled "Introduction to Youth Work", launched.In the coming weeks, six-day courses on "State and Local Youth Policy" "Youth work Introduction " and “Youth Worker’s Skills and Rules of Behavior " will be held, in which youth workers from different regions of Armenia will participate.

Towards Effective Humanitarian Volunteering
 

A long-term project “Towards Effective Humanitarian Volunteering” (TEHV) in the frames of EU Aid Volunteers Initiative: Technical Assistance and Capacity Building programme has been launched.

On March 31 capacity building training courses for partner organizations started which are held on the online platform because of the current situation.
